Diocese joins statewide Stations of the Cross

Bishops from across California will release a video on June 19 reenacting the Stations of the Cross to draw attention to the sin of racism and to ask God’s help in eliminating it.
It’s the latest action taken by the Catholic Church, across the nation and at local dioceses, to respond to the killing of George Floyd and the ongoing protests demanding police reforms.
The video includes the leaders of all 12 California (arch)dioceses and two Catholic eparchies. Each of the 14 Stations of the Cross was taped at a location with deep racial meaning. These include Oakland’s Fruitvale BART Station, California’s first African-American Catholic Church, and a former KKK headquarters in San Diego.
