The San Diego Diocese recommends that pastors, in collaboration with parish leadership, review their parish mask-wearing requirement now that the prevalence of the Omicron variant has decreased and public health authorities have relaxed prevention measures.
The parish schools’ mask-wearing requirement indoors remains in place and may be re-addressed by the state at the end of February.
On Ash Wednesday, clergy may once again use the traditional method of imposing ashes with the thumb, with due consideration for members of the faithful who may have personal concerns.
