Who We Are
The Tongan Catholic Community primarily gathers at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in San Diego. However, Tongan Catholics worship at various parishes across the
San Diego Diocese.
A total of eight families belong to the Tongan Catholic Community, which was established in the 1980s. They actively participate in diocesan events, including the annual Pentecost All Peoples Mass.
The national Tongan Catholic Chaplaincy, based in San Mateo, Calif., serves Tongans in the United States. The Chaplain visits San Diego once a year, when the community celebrates a Mass in the Tongan language.
