One of the services offered by the Caring for the Whole Person initiative, is to accompany elderly and/or ill parishioners and their family, who are facing difficult questions and decisions during this stage in their life.
“Accompanying You as Your Life Journey Continues” is aimed at providing support and direction in the search for answers, by learning about helpful resources in the community.
Speakers:
Ms. Nellie Hernandez, Bilingual Dementia Educator, from Alzheimer’s, San Diego
Mr. Matthew Parcasio, MA, from County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency, Caregiver Programs Coordinator, Aging and Independence Services
Mr. David Schwartz, Staff Attorney from Elder Law and Advocacy (ELA), a non-profit group of experienced attorneys, staff, and volunteers who provide free civil legal services and Medicare counseling to qualifying seniors and people with disabilities. ELA also provides community education, events, and advocacy to advance seniors’ rights.
Parishioners, caregivers, and ministers who help to the sick and establish a supportive community for the terminally ill parishioners and their families are welcome.
