September 1st is the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, kicking off our Season of Creation 2026.
This year’s theme is “Living Waters,” but as we are in the midst of the Jubilee Year of Saint Francis, the Diocese of San Diego will be celebrating “Sister Water,” as described in Saint Francis’ Canticle of the Creatures.
THEREFORE, we will begin our SOC with this World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation event on the easternmost side of the diocese, praising God through the arrival of Brother Sun, who marks the start of this day and season with his rising there at 6:18AM.
We will first gather at St. Thomas Indian Mission, located at 350 Picacho Rd, Winterhaven, CA 92283, at 6AM for a prayer service followed by a walk to the river at 6:30AM.
Dress for warm weather and bring a water bottle!
