What is Stewardship?

Once a person comes to believe in the Living God and makes a commitment to follow Jesus, stewardship is not an option. Stewardship is a spirituality that is rooted in Scripture and is based on the principle that everything we have is a gift from God. As Christian stewards, we receive God’s gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.

Mission

Cultivating a Culture of Stewardship

Our office:

Offers resources, events, and support to cultivate stewardship as a way of life in the parishes of San Diego and Imperial Counties.
Coordinates the Annual Catholic Appeal to fund diocesan ministry offices and programs that help community members to live their faith.
Provides assistance to parishes to help them to conduct capital campaigns, increased offertory appeals and other fund development efforts, such as bequests, gifts of stocks, real estate, annuities, insurance endowments, wills and trusts.
Convenes the Stewardship Advisory Commission, made up of pastors and lay people from throughout the diocese, to assist in the office’s mission.
