Indoor Masses temporarily suspended

On Jan. 25, San Diego County health authorities updated their orders for the region to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Parishes in San Diego County will continue to operate as they have since early December, offering Masses only outdoors, with members having to wear masks, observe social distancing and follow other safety guidelines.

Many parishes will continue to livestream Masses on a daily basis through their websites or social media, giving the faithful another option to stay connected to their faith. To find your parish website, click here.

The universal dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass continues throughout the diocese. However, the diocese continues to offer Sunday Mass online in English and Spanish through its website, www.sdcatholic.org.

The diocese’s Catholic schools in San Diego County remain open for in-person and online instruction.

Bishop McElroy knows the frequent changes during the pandemic have been very hard on our Catholic community.

“In this moment of our lives,” he said, “when times are tough, it is then that God especially comes to us, embraces us and carries us through.”
