(SAN DIEGO) – Bishop Michael Pham, of the Catholic Diocese of the San Diego, issued the following statement today after the devastating shooting at a church in Minneapolis:
“This morning’s shooting at Annunciation church and school in Minneapolis is devasting news and affects us all. We ask for your prayers for the victims and their families, for the school community shattered by this tragic event and for the first responders who selflessly attended to the dead and injured at the scene.
“Here in our diocese, the San Diego County Office of Education and the San Diego Police Department have gone out of their way to assist us in developing safety plans for our schools. We are grateful for their help and, in light of what happened in Minneapolis, have asked pastors and principals to review their safety plans, making sure we do everything we can to protect students, staff and everyone in our school communities.
“May God’s peace and protection be with us all. Our Lady of Refuge – pray for us.”
