Office for Stewardship
Everything that happens after we say, “I believe.”
Everything that happens after we say, “I believe.”
The Office for Stewardship exists as a resource to all parishes and schools throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties, in order to help foster stewardship as a Christian way of life and to help pastors, parish and school staff and parishioners to share God’s gifts to further the mission of the Church.
In addition to our staff, the Stewardship Advisory Commission, made up of pastors and lay people from throughout the diocese, assists in the overall mission. This includes providing materials and training to assist parishes wishing to better communicate the stewardship teachings of time, talent and treasure. Consultation and assistance are also available to parishes conducting capital campaigns, increased offertory appeals and other fund development efforts such as bequests, gifts of stock, real estate, gift annuities, insurance endowments, wills and trusts. The office also coordinates the Annual Catholic Appeal.
Once a person comes to believe in the Living God and makes a commitment to follow Jesus, stewardship is not an option. Stewardship is a spirituality that is rooted in Scripture and is based on the principle that everything we have is a gift from God. As Christian stewards, we receive God’s gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.
Our Office for Stewardship offers resources, events, and support in order to cultivate stewardship as a way of life in the parishes of San Diego and Imperial Counties. We help parish leaders tailor their plans to grow stewardship by taking into consideration the unique needs of their parish and community.
